Silica Analyzer

SLIA-2000 Series

Analyze a wider range of concentration levels faster than ever with an amazing repeatability of ±2% of full scale.

Outline

The control of scale-causing silica in thermal and nuclear power plants is of utmost importance in maintaining safe and efficient operation of high-tempera-ture, high-pressure steam driven tur-bines. The need for silica control is also seen in semiconductor plants where pure water is used for cleaning and other important functions. By monitor-ing the silica concentration in pure wa-ter, the SLIA-2000 series analyzer can be used for early detection of abnor-malities in the purifying unit that cannot be detected using specific resistance.
The design of the SLIA-2000 re-lies on technical know-how acquired by HORIBA over 30 years of experience manufacturing and selling analyzers. This expertise is proven in the design of the SLIA-2000 which boasts a range of 10μg/L (ppb)* and incorporates a spe-cial analyzer cell that requires minimum of reagent. Also, an improved reagent pump and superior sample flow make the SLIA-2000 capable of high-speed measurements while maintaining an extraordinarily high ±2% repeatability of full scale when used in pure water applications.
*Standard specification

Main Features

A new level in analyzer performance with high-speed response, wide measuring range, new LED light source, complete self-diagnostics, and easy maintenance.

5-Minute Measuring with ±2% of full scale Repeatability
This signifies a remarkable improve-ment over existing units that had a re-peatability of ±3% for 15 minute mea-surements and ±5% for 5 minute mea-surements. This reliable performance is possible through a new light source that features increased stability, a new pump design with improved discharge performance, and a new measuring cell design.

Wide Measurement Range Now Standard
Measurement has been standardized to span a high-sensitivity range of 0 - 10μg/L (ppb) to a high-concentration range of 0 - 5.0 mg/L (ppm). The ex-tremely low concentration range of 0 - 10μg/L has been introduced to enable the monitoring of pure water in semi-conductor plants.

Stable LED Light Source Eliminates Replacements
Near infrared light (830 nm) is supplied by a mono-color, long life LED.

Self-Diagnostic Function
The self-diagnostic function is used to check for abnormalities when sample water and reagents are injected, and for calibration errors, etc. Because the light absorption cell and the coloring reaction vessel are integrated, abnormalities can be diagnosed by transient changes in the intensity of the transmitted light when injecting sample water and re-agents. Also, sample water is checked to make sure that warming is normal to ensures measurement reliability. The alarm lamp turns on and a message is displayed on the message display when an error occurs.
*The processes of injecting sample water and reagents are patented.

Automatic Switching of Measuring Cycle
This autimatic cycle switching function allows you to configure the SLIA-2000 so that the cycle is automatically short-ened when the set concentration level is exceeded and automatically length-ened when the sample goes below that setting. This saves energy by eliminat-ing unnecessary boiler discharges be-cause drops in boiler silica concentra-tion are immediately detected.

Auto-Calibration for Increased Measurement Reliability
Span calibration can be set to occur au-tomatically during each sequential measurement. The measurement is in-terrupted while the span calibration mode takes over. Zero calibration oc-curs automatically during each mea-surement. In addition to verifying the light intensity, zero calibration compen-sates for the effect of turbidity.

Simple Construction for Easy Maintenance
Simplified sample water and reagent flow routing make it possible to operate the SLIA-2000 and carry out daily main-tenance tasks from the front of the unit. Also, a totally new self-priming reagent pump is employed to allow reagent in-take even when the pump is empty. Re-agent supply and replacement is simple.

Automatic Redundant Line Measurement (Optional)
A redundant line can be factory-set if desired. Set the redundant line when doing multiple point measuring to pre-vent measurement interruptions. When sample water from all the sample lines is cut off, a redundant water line is auto-matically measured. (The water supply from this redundant line must be from a source which will always be available for back-up.) Please designate the code of the redundant line as a number of points of measurements.
