Horiba, Ltd. has formally finalized an agreement that the company will acquire from Royal Philips Electronics (head office: the Netherlands) the ellipsometry business line of its analytical business unit, and transfer the business unit to Jobin Yvon Ltd (head office: France), a Horiba Group company. By adding the new business field to its leading expertise in spectroscopic ellipsometry technology, Jobin Yvon will complete its product line in the semiconductor market, which ranges from high-end models to more widespread products. In applications to the measurement of thin film, the company will be able to take advantage of its group strength and respond to the needs of a wide range of customers. The amount of money to be paid for this acquisition will not be disclosed to the public, as stated in the contract.
