HORIBA to Change the Name of a Major Group Company, Jobin Yvon, S.A.S.
Pursuing Global Brand Integration under the HORIBA Name

On October 1, 2004, Jobin Yvon, S.A.S. (headquarters: Longjumeau, France), a major group company of HORIBA, Ltd. playing a key role in HORIBA's optical analysis technology, will change its name to HORIBA Jobin Yvon, S.A.S.
(Jobin Yvon, S.A.S. and all its affiliates will change company name.)

By placing "HORIBA" at the beginning of the company name and combining the brand strength of HORIBA's corporate culture and reliability with the group company's specialist technologies, HORIBA aims to create a synergy effect. The change of name is part of the global brand strategy that Horiba has been pursuing this fiscal year with regard to all its 36 domestic and overseas group companies.

HORIBA will work to establish a shared corporate identity as a comprehensive manufacturer of analysis and measurement instruments, and by strengthening tie-ups between its group companies plans to realize its "one company" concept with expansion in all its markets and areas of business.

•On July 1, 2004, the following two major domestic subsidiaries changed their names.
Former name: STEC Inc.
New name: HORIBA STEC Co., Ltd.
Former name: COS Co., Ltd.
New name: HORIBA Advanced Techno Co., Ltd.

•HORIBA aims to unify all major subsidiaries under the HORIBA brand name by the end of 2004.
